Curriculum Map Drama


The school’s curriculum principals of resilient readers, high ambition, knowledge rich, enrichment and personal development with diversity and inclusivity are embedded within the Drama curriculum.

Drama is not just a medium of communication, an art form, a skill and entertainment: but through its own history knowledge, culture and many techniques, confident, educated, independent individuals are formed.

KS3 Drama

The vision for Drama at Stalham High School is to develop pupils' creativity alongside the use and application of spoken communication skills whilst developing confidence, clarity of expression and logistical problem solving in group working scenarios, which are transferable skills to later life post KS4 education.

A key goal is to develop pupils' practical performance skills in preparation for pupils taking the AQA GCSE and for those that go on to study performing arts post sixteen. Pupils' learning is scaffolded by embedding key vocabulary into each SOL and building retrieval practice of this into subsequence schemes.

Drama is the only subject in school where practical problem solving as part of a team is not only encouraged but assessed. Working in a group and navigating the pitfalls and tensions this entails is a fundamental life skill we aim to develop. We encourage active participation and pride in one's voice, opinions and ideas. We actively encourage respect, patience and empathy as core values in every scheme of work.

It is our commitment to provide a curriculum that is stimulating and engaging, presenting topics that are relevant, capture the interest and imagination, and provide a vehicle to explore a variety of performance styles and techniques.

KS4 GCSE Drama

AQA GCSE Drama is an exciting, inspiring and practical exploration of performance, literature and communication skills. Students can work collaboratively to devise their own theatre as well as studying the work of prominent theatre practitioners. The course is designed for students to do what they like best, participate in performance.

Our Schools
